Renan Ferreira vs Vadim Nemkov: PFL Heavyweight Title Clash
Power versus precision in Lyon
The inaugural PFL Heavyweight World Championship brings together two very different forces. Renan Problema Ferreira is a 6'8 knockout artist and former PFL heavyweight tournament winner, known for ending fights with a single right hand. His recent wins over Denis Goltsov and Ryan Bader showed the same pattern. Opponents can control him on the ground, but if they fail to finish, one clean shot can flip the fight instantly.
Across from him stands Vadim Nemkov, Fedor Emelianenko protege and the longest reigning Bellator Light Heavyweight champion. Since moving to heavyweight he has proved that his speed, timing and grappling translate up a division, finishing dangerous striker Bruno Cappelozza with an arm triangle and veteran Tim Johnson with a rear naked choke. Nemkov relies on efficiency and a complete game rather than size.
December 13 in Lyon answers one question. Can Nemkov manage the distance, avoid Ferreira's power and bring the fight into his technical world, or will Ferreira turn one opening into a new knockout and the first PFL heavyweight belt.
