GLORY Collision 8 Highlights: Plazibat and Zimmerman Return in Style, Champions Stunned and Brutal KOs

Combat sports fans were treated to a big weekend as GLORY Collision 8 took place at the GelreDome in Arnhem. The night featured impressive comeback performances from Antonio Plazibat and Errol Zimmerman, several brutal knockouts, and a handful of surprising outcomes.

Celebrated return for Antonio Plazibat

Antonio Plazibat showed he hasn’t lost a step. The Croatian heavyweight, back after a long injury layoff, was too strong over three rounds for Algeria’s Nordine Mahieddine. Plazibat scored a knockdown in round one and later opened up a nosebleed.

After the fight, Plazibat addressed the crowd and said he was sorry he didn’t get the knockout - explaining that he enjoyed being back in the ring so much that he didn’t force the finish.

Dream comeback for Errol Zimmerman

Zimmerman returned to GLORY after ten years away and wasted no time. He dropped Australia’s Alex Simon to the canvas in under a minute. Simon beat the count, but looked badly shaken after the knockdown.

Endy Semeleer is back

Former champion Endy Semeleer delivered a statement performance in the welterweight tournament. After his win, he made it clear he’s back at full force, shouting his “Bad News” message to the arena.

World champion Chico Kwasi goes down

Welterweight world champion Chico Kwasi was beaten by Bulgaria’s Teodor Hristov after three rounds, with Hristov taking the decision. Earlier this year, the two met in a five-round title fight where Kwasi handled Hristov comfortably - making this result a major surprise.

Semeleer overwhelms Don Sno

Before the fight, Don Sno suggested Semeleer would be the easiest opponent in the welterweight bracket - but the matchup played out very differently. Sno couldn’t deal with Semeleer’s technique and was sent hard to the canvas as Semeleer returned to GLORY after more than a year away.

Figuereido Landman adds extra shine to his return

Figuereido Landman made his GLORY return in emphatic fashion. The 20-year-old needed less than a minute to knock out Ismail Ouzgni with a clean shot to the jaw. Ouzgni dropped to his knees after the impact, ending the fight early.

The two fighters know each other from the TV show House of GLORY (Videoland). Landman also revealed after the bout that his mother attended one of his fights for the first time.

Michael Boapeah wins while ‘only giving 50%’

Michael Boapeah opened the main-card tournament action with a decision win. Afterward, he called out Miloš Cvjetićanin, saying he had only shown “50%” and promised “100%” in the final later that night.

Superfight Series

The Superfight Series also delivered plenty of action. Nico Horta was stopped via technical knockout by Nidal Bchiri. Cem Caceres again came up short against Miloš Cvjetićanin, who scored a knockout with a right hand. Elsewhere, Abraham Vidales, Miguel Trindade and Luis Tavares picked up wins.
